Somewhere under that pile of white stuff, is my pool. Sigh. |
Every year when it begins to get damp and cold outside, (and I seem to get a bit more stiff and crippled up because of my condition) which certainly doesn't help, I get the blah, blah, blues! I am a sunshine girl. I love the heat and warmth of the sun on my face and the overall feeling of freedom and fun summer always brings. ![]() |
All smiles on the Big Island, in Hawaii: Best trip EVER. |
So, I thought I'd post some pictures today, from happier times, to help bring my spirits up. Since that usually helps. Any of you have any ideas/suggestions of what you do to help bring you out of a slump? I'd love to hear about them. Also, anyone having a wonderful week or have some good news I can celebrate?
My three crazy babies always make me smile and happy! |
Taking Faith to the MET for her 10th B-day b/c she wanted to see the Savage Beauty exhibit, will always be one of my VERY best, happiest memories. |

I was outside Hugo Boss, in Atlantic City one day when I realized: Hey, that model looks familiar! And I freaked out. |

Because the picture was of my amazing friend Matt, a completely fabulous person I absolutely adore! Isn't he precious? |
This Halloween picture of Farrah and her chubby belly, kills me. Love it. |
I love football and always have a good time at the Giants games!! |

Frankie, jacking around after climbing the volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii |
My little kitty always makes me smile :)
When Faith's cooking dinner-everybody wins!!
And last but not least, a little Wolverine goes a LONG way.
So sorry your feeling crappy. I'm headed for Hawaii next month for two weeks at Christmas. Wanna come? :)
ReplyDeleteUm, YESSSSS!!! Wouldn't that be a trip to remember, LOL
DeleteThe family and I always long to be back in Hawaii. What island do you lucky people get to go visit at Christmas?
I grew up on the north shore of Oahu. All my family is still there, so we get to visit a lot AND have a free place to stay. :)
DeleteOh, you are a lucky girl. How great that must be to go back with your kids and see your family. I only went to the North Shore, on my honeymoon. The Husband and I have a fav restaurant there (of course it's all about the food) The Crouching Lion- have you ever been there? We haven't been there in years, but it was so good, I will start drooling just thinking about it!
DeleteI hope you have an amazing trip. Enjoy your family, the sun and that brilliant aloha spirit you can only find in Hawaii. xo
You know, tis the season to be a recluse. I love late fall/early winter because it's so easy to hide away in my house, but man, I miss the sun (and the vitamin D!). I hope you kick these blues soon. Buying Christmas presents and baking always helps me. Who doesn't feel better after devouring a heavily iced sugar cookie cut in the shape of Santa Claus? :)
ReplyDeleteLovely pics, Jen!
Hi Em! I think I have eaten one too many cookies (like my cat) this week already, LOL!! But buying things for the girls has a wonderful way of lifting my spirits. Thank you.
DeleteWonderful pictures! Love the little genie...she's adorable! Hope you're feeling sunny soon...even if it's only on the inside.
ReplyDeleteAw thanks Elizabeth. I will snap out of it. Eventually. Around May..LOL
DeleteSorry your blue, but your pictures definitely put a smile on my face!
ReplyDeleteYAY! That was what I was hoping for.
DeleteThose pictures me me smile! :) Hope your week gets better. Summer is only months away!
ReplyDeleteGood! I'm glad I could make you smile. And yes, summer will be here before we know it!
DeleteLovely pics, hope you are feeling brighter soon. I know what you mean about the sunshine though, it always makes you feel better. I've been feeling a bit sorry for myself for a few days as I have been ill but feeling better today and managed to go into work :)
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne! I'm glad you liked my pictures. And aw, so sorry to hear that you were not feeling well. When you don't feel well, everything kind of looks blue, doesn't it? Here's hoping you make a full recovery and have a great day at work!!
DeleteCome further south! We're not that cold yet.
ReplyDeleteAnd the caption with the first photo cracked me up.
Oh my goodness, if I could run south, I would!! The Husband's family lives down there, and I have a cousin who moved to Nashville who I miss something awful. But- it's not in the mom cards for me to take off. Responsibilities and stuff, hold me back. But it's a nice thought!!
DeleteAnd, oh my gosh, I can't even tell how you hard my sis and I laughed when we couldn't stand get any closer!?! We were dying-
Winter's here!!!! WOO HOO!!!! Hey, with a name like Jaybird you MUST love winter, somehow, somewhere in the recesses of your heart. the jays at my bird feeder are the strongest, brightest birds going and you remind me of them. So preen those fancy feathers and put a smile on your face and KNOW that we all think you're wonderful, bright spirit in this bloggy world -- even when the pool (sigh) is buried under snow.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite part of winter? No mosquitoes. BONUS!
You are too sweet Cath! And it's funny but I noticed the blue jays going crazy at my feeder this morning too. (Which really incites the cat, who thinks she's a lion in the window. But if I were to let her out she would run like the scaredy cat she is!)
DeleteNo mosquitoes is a huge bright side!
(Love the picture of Farrah! SO CUTE!)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I loved that I Dream of Jeannie costume so much! (Especially her chubby little baby belly sticking out of it.) But the expression on her face, that's the best.
DeleteSuch fun pictures! I'm sorry you're feeling down. :( Winter throws me off, too.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I've done in the past when I'm feeling down is re-read the end of a really happy book. (I know, I'm such a dork.) When I was younger the ending of An Old-Fashioned Girl could always make me feel happy. :)
I hope you're feeling better soon! (And speaking of fun things to read, I'm still waiting for more pages from you!) ;)
You are not a dork! And if you were, I am too. Because I like to pull out my feel good books and movies and have a little marathon...
DeleteI didn't want to bother you with my next chapter since you are so busy with what you were working on- but if you don't mind, I'd love to send over more pages. I'd really appreciate your feed back.
Those pictures helped cheer me up. I've got winter blues, too. I mean, as if it wasn't already bad enough that I'm a writer (and barely ever leave the house), now it's too cold/snowy and I can't go anywhere. Can't wait for spring/summer.
ReplyDeleteHey B- Living in Colorado, although I've heard it's beautiful, must be really hard because I know it snows there a whole lot more than it does here at the Shore!!
DeleteI guess I'm really just whining because I hate being so limited in my choices of what I can do. Plus, it gets dark so early, I feel like the day is over before it even begins. Having joints that are all stiff and arthritic in the cold weather, doesn't help much, either.
Your kitten made me squee.
ReplyDeleteAsh, you squee? Somehow, someway I have a feeling that's something I must see one day! :)
DeleteI'm sorry you're blue. I want you to be happy, happy! I love all the pictures, though. They cheered me up, anyway :) I loved Farrah's chubby belly, too. And the kitten, sooo sweet. And I think somehow I am going to have to taste Faith's food someday :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, taking vitamin d and high doses of fish oil have helped me tremendously.
Thanks Kianwi. And bleh, now that it's Friday, I'm over it already. Sometimes, I just get so tired of being sick and I tend to be a big fat whiner. Now I feel bad about venting. Because normally, I try to forget all about it, push past it and just be happy with what I am: alive!! Know what I mean?
DeleteAnd thanks for the vitamin tips- you should see the amount of supplements I shove in my face on a daily basis! It's ridiculous. (Takes me close to a half an hour to swallow them all) Crazy, I know, but I'd rather go au natural than take all of the Rx's the specialist wants to throw my way. If you ever see the pharmaceutical commercials, my gosh, the side effects are worse than the condition half the time. My girls think the commercials are hilarious. Farrah says, "If mommy takes this drug, she'll feel better but have uncontrollable farting, all her hair will fall out and she will have to start wearing a diaper!" LOL
(I mean really, way to peddle your drugs when a 10 year old thinks your advertising is seriously whack- LOL)
