A-Z Challenge, C is for Crazy Cat Lady

C is for Crazy Cat Lady. Yep. That's me. And although I only have one, instead of forty or fifty running around my house, I am more than OK with the label. The absolute, overwhelming, unconditional love I feel for my cat isn't at all may not be normal. But I don't really care. I will defend my little fur baby to my last breath.
Here's my fabulous attempt at a selfie. Minus, my head.  My kids bought me this tee shirt for Christmas. I won't wear it outside the house though. Not because I'm embarrassed about the saying but (as I'm sure you can see) the material around the cat is kind of  s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d to the max. Ha.

Why is it we are filled with an overwhelming love for our pets, but can sometimes care less for other human beings? In my house, the running joke is that I never, ever, get mad at the cat. And it's true. Even when she does something naughty, I find and/or make up some excuse for her bad behavior. I view her bad behavior as cute or funny and never get angry at her. If The Husband ever purposely pooed on the floor, I certainly wouldn't find it cute nor would I find any excuse for it. (I also might knock him out.)
Who could get mad at a face like that?
Why do I have infinite patience with my kitty? Even when she wakes me up early on a Saturday morning. It's my only day of the week to sleep in. No one else gets away with waking me up. But when she does it, just because she wants me to pet her and snuggle, I don't get angry. I think it's stinking adorable. She can do no wrong in my eyes. Do any of you suffer from some crazy cat (or any pet) love like me?

  1. It seems balanced to unconditionally love our pets as they in turn are so devoted to us :)

    1. That is true. She is like my little shadow, following me all around the house.

  2. That t-shirt looks fabulous on you!

I love my cat, too, he's gorgeous!

    1. Aw, thanks Kyra. It's a bit tight so I'm uncomfortable wearing it out. But I do wear it quite a bit around the house, so the kids see me wear it.

I love my cat to distraction. Even I'll admit it's a bit extreme. I just can't seem to help myself. She's adorable.

  3. I could so be a crazy cat gentleman, lol. I think when it comes to animals it is just making that connection that we can't always trust with people. Nice shirt.

    1. Thanks Brandon! Yes. Maybe that connection is what it is. My cat trusts me completely; she knows I would never, ever hurt her. And I get her undying devotion and love in return. It's a win win.

  4. Yeah, I've been a crazy cat lady for almost a year now, ever since I got Misty as a kitten last April. I'm the same, I can't believe how much I love her. I'm really protective as well, so I act like a full blown crazy cat lady.

    1. Everyone in my family mocks me for it, especially since we have always had dogs. This is my first cat. But I don't really care. I don't discriminate; I love all animals, but there is just something about this cat. She is amazing.

  5. My fiancee was not like that with her cat. She would often scream at him saying "get out of my room". Though I don't blame her too much, often he would crawl under her bed and there was almost nothing you could do to get him out until he wanted to leave.

    1. Ha. They do have a mind of their own, that's for sure. I love that about my cat though. She has her own will and doesn't bend to anyone else's. Just like her momma....Hmmm, maybe that's why I love her willful little furface so much!!

  6. My children must be my pets. They are rotten and ornery and break my stuff all the time, yet they have never been beaten. But the ting is...I know when they are being bad and when they are just being good-natured naughty. Like your cat waking you up- the motive is pure and you know it. She just wants to snuggle. A human would probably want you to make food. There's a difference.

    1. Ha! That's the truth. The Husband only wakes me up to make him breakfast or because he wants something from me.... On the other hand. IF my tweenage girls woke me up because they just wanted to snuggle, I might fall over and die. But I would be pleased to do it. I think The Husband got me this kitty because I can mother it to death, in lieu of him and the kids. They are all sick of me smothering them with hugs and kisses. The kitty, it's never enough.

  7. Sitting here, with my cat curled into my lap, I can safely say I probably need that t-shirt!

  8. Animals are like very small children - they don't understand and we have to take care of them.

  9. Put me on the crazy cat lady list too! Your kitty is a cutie.

  10. So this is where our twin-ness comes to a screeching halt, lol. I am NOT a cat person. And I like dogs but only if they are not mine. Nothing that can't poop in a toilet allowed in my house, haha. If I had the money to pay someone to take care of them, I'd have horses. But that's about it. :)

    1. LOL!! You're still my homegirl. I know someone who taught their cat to poop in the toilet. I laughed so hard though because with three girls and myself, there is already a line for the toilet, much less if I had to wait for the cat too!!

  11. You're right, if you wore that shirt out in public, I don't think anyone would be noticing the cat. :)

    1. LOL! Yes, that's why I only wear it around the house. Just enough so the kids know I love their present, but not outside where I would scare the neighbors. Ha.

  12. I too am a crazy cat lady with only one cat, Ewok. She's the cutest thing and can do no wrong, lol.

    1. Oh my gosh Ewok is such a great name for a cat! Some look all fluffy and cute just like them.

  13. I already said I was jealous, and you have to go and rub it in with THAT t-shirt. YIKES! Ha, ha, ha.

I'm not a cat lover, but when it comes to my dogs (in the past, I don't have one right now), my kids were actually jealous of a little cocker spaniel we had, because they said I spoiled him and treated him better than I treated them. While I don't think that is exactly accurate, I did love and poil that little guy rotten.

    1. HAHAHA! (Now you know what I'm talking about; going braless, is so NOT an option).

I am in love with this cat in particular, but I love all animals. I only had dogs before this (a rabbit and a goat once) and I was pretty nutso about them too. But this cat for some reason (probably the timing in my life right when my girls are too big to sit on my lap and snuggle anymore) I projected all that mommy love onto my fur baby!

  14. Found your blog via the A-Z Challenge. I think that we are more forgiving of our fur babies because they give us unconditional love and don't screw us over like human can.

  15. I'm the Cat Lady without a Cat so I can understand. When I finally get a cat...that pet will probably be more spoiled than any child I'll ever have.

    1. Aw, I hope you get a cat soon to spoil and love. My husband and kids tell me that I love the cat more than them. Not true. I just love her differently than I love them. Ha!

    1. I am super crazy about dogs too. I love all animals really. But this stinking little cat, for some reason, can do no wrong in my eyes. She's a spoiled rotten little girl. I know it, but I can't help myself. :)

  17. Those are some big glasses on that cat....ahem :P

Anyway, I know what you mean. I was never a cat person until I met my wife and her cat adopted me. She's demanding, but very loving. Those big, doe eyes just get me every time :)

    1. HAHAHA- I know. I know. I swear I don't wear that shirt out of the house.

The eyes are the best, or the worst, once they are leveled on you. My cat gets whatever she wants with those eyes.

  18. What a beauty! I miss having a cat around, but my hubby is allergic. The last cat I had in university adopted me. He was the neighborhood tom, but he would secretly snuggle with me. Then he'd walk along the neighbor's fence and taunt their dogs!

    1. They are so sassy right! That's another reason I love them so much. Cats are sassy and smart. They love to tease. They know just how far they can torture those dogs too!

  19. I've had dogs, cats, donkeys, horses, an alligator...but I think I like the cats the best. They have a certain personality to them. At the moment we are petless (husband is not an animal person...) but someday...:) Thanks for sharing your world with us!

    1. Aw, so sad to be petless. I would have a whole rescue mission at my house, by my Hubs would never put up with it. So I do understand. He drew the line in the sand after we got this cat...and I kind of lost my mind over her.
