Secondary Characters Blog Hop

Today my lovely, sweet and super-talented friend who  also  happens to be one of my CPs Rachel  is hosting the Secondary Characters Blog Hop along with these fabulous co-hosts  Theresa Paolo, Kelley Lynn, Jessica SalyerJenny Morris and Suzi Retzlaff .  **Look for Rachel's e-book Secondary Characters, which releases on May 28th!!

I'd have to say my favorite Secondary Character of late has to be Fat Amy from the movie Pitch Perfect. Rebel Wilson took that film from comical, to hilarious. If you aren't a teenage girl or don't have any in your family to sit you down and make you watch this movie over and over (like me)  Fat Amy and her one-liners definitely steal the show. One of my fav Fat Amy lines- "I'm going to finish him like a cheesecake."  Here's a small sampling of some classic Fat Amy moments in Pitch Perfect:

OK- I have to admit, I don't really watch much television. But I had to throw in my favorite Secondary Character from a TV show I'm currently loving- Loyal friend, vegan, antique clock- repairing Blutboten (werewolf)  Monroe from Grimm. He is so rich- and multi-dimensional. Just love this character. I think he steals the show!

The reason I don't watch much TV is because I prefer to have my face stuffed in a book. And as far as books go, I have so many Secondary Characters I'm crazy about, it was really difficult to choose. I'm going to do my best to try to keep this list down to a minimum. But man, is it  hard to narrow this down! (And I'm sure I'm forgetting somebody I love) But here goes:

Piggy from Lord of The Flies
Zuzana, Karou's bestie from Daughter of Smoke & Bone
Melanie from Gone With The Wind
Brienne of Tarth, Game of Thrones
Lonn Hammond, Jr.,  from The Notebook
Linden from The Chemical Garden Trilogy
Monsieur and Madame Th`enardiers  from Les Miserables
Bubba from The Southern Vampire Series
So stinking many from Robert Jordan and The Wheel of Time can't even begin to list them all!
Lily from Rosemary and Rue
Gabe from The Scorpio Races
Myrnin from The Morganville Vampire Series

And so many more... Each of those literary Secondary Characters I've listed above I love for a number of  reasons. Some intrigue me, some disgust me, others are just hella cool. I can't wait to see what Secondary Characters you came up with (and who I forgot to list). Happy Blog Hopping!

  1. Sorry, don't watch either of the shows. (Even though I do watch a lot on NetFlix.) My favorite characters also game from a show.

    1. I'm not surprised you haven't seen Pitch Perfect Alex. You are not, and to my knowledge, you do not have a teenage girl in your house. LOL I wouldn't have seen this if my nieces didn't insist I watch it. And I was surprised at how much I laughed. (Mostly because of Fat Amy.)

  2. Oh man, I love Fat Amy! My mum bought Pitch Perfect a few weeks ago, and we've seen it about 3 times since. We're hooked! It really wouldn't be as good without her.

    1. Hi Suzi- I loved Fat Amy, but I have to admit to the sound track and music sticking with me, long after the film was over. I'm glad my nieces strapped me to a chair and made me watch this, LOL :)

  4. Fat Amy!! Yay!
Piggy is the best for sure.
You like Brienne, huh? She is so cunning and smooth. I love Jon Snow, he's so sexy and I adore Daenerys!
And why couldn't Rhine just love Linden? I know I did.
    You have such great taste!!

    1. Fat Amy rules! There are so many secondary characters in GOT, I love them all. But Brienne interests me. I'd like to see more of what makes her tick, get inside her head a bit.
The whole character of Linden was also just so interesting! HE had so many sides. I think deep down, in her own way, Rhine loved Linden. Or maybe that's just my own wishful thinking...

      Thanks for commenting Dani!

  7. Ha, ha, my teenage daughter chose Pitch Perfect for us to see together b/c the previews (featuring heavy doses of Fat Amy) made her laugh. I was pleasantly surprised. Melissa McCarthy of Bridesmaids is a similarly slapstick actress that we enjoy together too.

    1. Hey Kim- Yes! Melissa McCarthy is a very similar type of actress that I also love. And I am happy my nieces introduced me to Pitch Perfect. It's a feel good movie that puts me in a happy mood!

  8. I still haven't seen Pitch Perfect! I've been hearing about it all over lately. I'll have to go get it. :)
I love that you picked Zuzanna, too! I'm reading The Scorpio Races right now. :) Haven't seen a whole lot of Gabe yet, but I look forward to finding out what made you like him. :)

    1. I LOVED the Scorpio Races. They are making it into a movie. I just couldn't figure Gabe out. and that intrigued me about him.

Zuzanna on the other hand, was the BOMB. Who else could be someone like Karou's best friend? I love when she pees in the balloon and drops it on the head of those reporters. I almost died laughing! So funny.

  10. Monroe!!! Yes!

I'm not a huge television watcher, but "Grimm" is one of about three show that I'll sit down to watch, these days. Love that show and, yes, Monroe is one of the best characters on there.

    Awesome choice!

And how much do you wanna bet you and I watch the same three shows on TV? Grimm, Game of Thrones and Defiance are my top three right now. What about you?

  11. Fat Amy is the freakin' bomb!!!! How about when that dude was thinking about kissing her and she said, "I sometimes think I should do crystal meth, and then I think hmmmmm, better not". Such a riot!

  12. Wow! You went above and beyond in choosing. "Lord of the Flies" was one of my favorite books and I want to watch Pitch Perfect just because of Amy. I haven't seen it yet. Can you believe my house of men never votes to rent that one? I don't get it.

    1. Hi Diane- Myrnin is the psychotic/nutty professor vampire that is slowly losing his mind and works with Clare to find an antidote to the disease all the Morganville Vampires are suffering from. He is so bizarre, a vampire that wears bunny slippers and Hawaiian shirts, is crazy and rambling one second, and then lucid and ready to kill something the next. He just really stuck with me!

  26. I haven't seen Pitch Perfect. Piggy from Lord of the Flies enters into daily conversation for me when I use it as an example to illustrate the concept of "tyranny of the majority," which surprisingly most people haven't heard of. "Lord of the Flies" comes in as a useful example of this because I don't want to offend anyone by using an example pulled from Islam where they stone a girl to death for being raped (the purist example of how a majority can in fact be completely wrong and tyrannical).

    1. The Lord of the Flies is a classic and Golding a brilliant writer. It's a pity not too many people recognize his work when you bring it up. I first read LOF years ago and yet, the story stuck with me all this time. A sign of a true classic, if you ask me.

PS- I am guilty of busting out the Lord of the Flies quotes. (Especially when I am talking to my brother b/c I know he will get it) Some of my fav lines-

"Piggy is such a bore with his specs and his ass-mar!"
"After all, we are not savages. We are English. And the English are the best at everything."
"Maybe there's a beast; maybe it's just us."

  31. As a straight man with no children, I have no desire to see Pitch Perfect, no matter how funny Fat Amy is. I know I'll just get angry at the rest of the movie. Why is everyone singing? Why has no one punched each other in the face yet? Why are there no explosions? THIS MOVIE IS DISAPPOINTING IN EVERY WAY.

    1. HAHAHA! You sound like The Husband. Of course, he has ZERO interest in watching Pitch Perfect. If there is no death, blood or shiz blowing up, he is NOT interested in watching it. It pains him to even sit in the room with me and the girls when we are watching a "chick flick". He will sit there for two- three minutes tops, squirming the whole time, before the inevitable happens and he announces, "That's it. I'll be at the range shooting shit and trying to forget I live with four women." LOL
